Future of Nursing Initiatives

As part of the Florida Center for Nursing’s vision to ensure that the health care needs of the residents and visitors of Florida are met by a competent and sufficient nursing workforce, FCN staff has piloted programs to strengthen the nursing pipeline, connecting with K-12 students in the state to introduced them to the career pathways in nursing. 

Great American Teach In ​

The Great American Teach-In (GATI) is an annual event that takes place in November. At this event, professionals, parents, and community members visit K-12 schools to share information about their career, lead an activity, read a story, and more.  

The Florida Center for Nursing is proud to support the Great American Teach-In and school career days. The FCN believes nurse participation can make a significant impact and provided a variety of resources to assist Florida nurses with their presentations.

Junior Achievement Tampa Bay

FCN staff guided ninth graders in Junior Achievement Tampa Bay’s 3DE program at Chamberlain High School through a case challenge. 

Through partnerships with organizations like Junior Achievement, the FCN is able to introduce students to new career paths in a way that is relevant, experiential, and connected to the complexities of the real world. 

North Florida Worlds of Work

Florida Center for Nursing staff attended North Florida Worlds of Work at Tallahassee State College.  

This career expo introduced over 3,000 high school students, teachers, and parents to opportunities available for future workers in the area. FCN staff explored with students the wide variety of exciting career opportunities and various pathways in nursing.
